PURPOSE – Why this role is important 

Compliance is an integral part of the AFL Queensland team.

 

In this casual role, you will assist the Compliance & Partnerships Lead – QLD in providing advice and support relating to all compliance, tribunal and integrity issues in QLD.

 

This is a great opportunity to be part of AFL in Queensland and contribute to compliance in community Aussie Rules football. If you’re someone who wishes to have a taste of working in sports integrity and have a passion for footy, this role might be for you!

 

DAY IN THE LIFE – What you will be responsible for

  • Research and brief the Compliance & Partnerships Lead – Qld on the National Community Football Guidelines (rules, regulations, policies)
  • Assist the Compliance & Partnerships Lead – QLD to manage Tribunal matters, including the drafting of briefs for AFL Queensland advocates
  • Assist the Compliance & Partnerships Lead – QLD to investigate incidents relating community football, including the drafting of notices
  • Support and contribute to the success of the broader organisation

 

OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER

This role would suit someone who is studying law and has an interest in sports integrity and sport generally.  

 

You’ll also need the following, to help you succeed in the role:

  • Strong complex stakeholder management skills, and ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with integrity and appropriately handle confidential information 
  • Knowledge of AFL policies, rules and regulations (or willing to understand) and ability to become conversant with the AFL National Community Football Policy handbook
  • Knowledge of community sporting frameworks, ideally a knowledge of Australian Rules football
  • High level of interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills 
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and objectivity to a broad range of scenarios
  • Self-motivated and able to work within strict timeframes
