The opportunity
Support the development of emerging football talent in the Northern Territory and help create positive, inclusive experiences for young players. This role contributes directly to growing the game at a grassroots level and building strong foundations for future pathways.
As Assistant Coach – Top End Youth Academy (casual), you will support the delivery of a structured development program for boys and girls aged 10–15. Working under the direction of the Head Coach, you will help deliver high-quality coaching sessions focused on skill development, engagement and consistent standards.
What you’ll own
You will support the delivery of engaging, safe and well-structured training environments for young athletes. You’ll work closely with the Head Coach to ensure consistent program delivery and positive player experiences.
You’ll add value through:
- Supporting delivery of the Top End Youth Academy program for players aged 10–15
- Developing fundamental football skills, including kicking, handball and ground ball techniques
- Reinforcing decision making and game understanding in training environments
- Promoting strong training habits and consistent performance standards
- Encouraging positive off-field behaviours including respect, inclusion and resilience
- Assisting with structured and well-organised training sessions in line with program objectives
- Contributing to individual player development support where required
- Providing clear, simple and constructive feedback to players
- Supporting session setup, pack down and overall training flow
What you’ll bring
- Experience supporting or delivering coaching or development programs
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with young participants
- Knowledge of and passion for Australian Football
- Ability to contribute to structured program delivery and consistent standards
- Experience working collaboratively within a coaching or team environment
- Initiative and ability to work effectively with limited supervision
- Relevant qualifications in Sports Coaching, Recreation, Education or equivalent experience
- AFL Level One Coaching Accreditation (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid Working with Children Check (Ochre Card) or ability to obtain
- Current NT Driver’s Licence
- Understanding of the local football network
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a session-based environment
