ABOUT THE ROLE

AFLNT delivers a range of youth focused education and leadership programs. Working with schools throughout the Northern Territory the AFLNT education programs are designed to drive positive engagement in school, improved school attendance, leadership and personal development. All education programs are leveraged from the powerful community connection to the game of AFL throughout the Northern Territory.

 

The AFLNT Education programs combine educational, leadership, physical literacy, and social emotional wellbeing initiatives through student camps and community-based outreach. Youth programs are targeted for specific age groups, genders targeting urban, regional and remote community schools.

 

The Education Programs Lead is responsible for overseeing strategic oversight of the AFLNT education programs and ensuring that all existing programs are delivered to the highest possible standard. This is an exciting and innovative role for anyone who is passionate about driving positive outcomes for first nations youth leveraging the power of the AFL and associated resources. If you are driven to see young people become the best versions of themselves through a dynamic and engaging program, we would love to hear from you.

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

Key Accountabilities:

  • Overseeing the delivery AFLNT Make your Mark core education and leadership program for First Nations Youth through residential camps and outreach components
  • Designing and developing AFLNT education programs school-based programs and pre-employment and training initiatives
  • Drive the strategic direction of the AFLNT education and leadership programs to achieve the greatest outcomes for First Nations Youth throughout the Northern Territory
  • Work closely with the NT Department of Education to strengthen the existing working relationship, provide ongoing program updates and explore further opportunities for collaboration
  • Maintain existing and build further strategic partnerships to enhance program opportunities
  • Promote and celebrate the AFLNT Education programs through strategic promotional, marketing and media opportunities
  • Support the program operations including engaging new schools into the programs, ensuring all logistics are completed effectively
  • Provide written reports, funding proposals, media releases and internal written correspondence
  • Manage a team of program staff to deliver the AFLNT Education programs
  • Explore opportunities for collaboration throughout the AFL industry, education and youth support sectors
  • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes to continually improve outputs and program operations
  • Create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for student camps and youth programs
  • Connect the AFLNT Education programs with staff throughout the NT and other jurisdictions
  • Enforce all child safety protocols and policies in line with NT Department of Education and AFL’s legal frameworks

 

 

 OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER

Core Competencies:

  • Current NT Working with Children’s OCHRE Card
  • Valid Driver's Licence
  • Experience working in the youth support sector
  • An understanding of the Northern Territory Education system
  • Experience or awareness of cross-cultural context and ability to create a culturally safe and inclusive environment
  • Developed verbal and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing demands within limited timeframes
  • Demonstrated skills in implementing policies and procedures
  • Able to embrace a culturally diverse workforce
  • A flexible and solutions focused approach
  • The ability to respond and adapt quickly in a face paced and dynamic environment
  • A resilient and positive attitude to role model throughout all programs
