ABOUT THE ROLE
The position of Finance and Grants Manager - NT is responsible for advising and assisting the AFL NT team on both financial and management accounting measures to ensure decisions can be made to achieve the best possible outcome for the business.
The Finance and Grants Manager has responsibility for maintaining and executing the AFL’s management accounting activities, including budgeting and forecasting. The role will also be responsible for the management of a variety of Government funding, assisting end-to-end finance processes for each department, and for supporting the business planning and budgeting requirements.

Job Profile
Day in the life – what you will be responsible for:
- Production of monthly management reporting, including monthly variance analysis, and annual budgets and forecasts in conjunction with the business
- Management of Government funding including supporting the team to unlock new grant funding opportunities
- Build strong working relationships and establishing trust with the business including cost centre managers and Heads of departments
- Liaise with cost centre managers to ensure adequate cost control and accurate reporting
- Provide financial leadership and accounting support to cost centre managers and Heads of departments
- Contribute to and support ad hoc project working groups with project accounting, forecasting, and reporting, as required
- Present various financial results and analysis, as required
- Support and improve project reporting for the Indigenous Programs team
- Partner with key stakeholders to upskill and educate the business on financial processes, and general business acumen
- Support the business with the management of tenders and new business proposals
- Challenge the status quo and champion finance as well as enterprise-level transformation
- Provide support to the financial reporting team and their processes
- Provide support to the annual audit process
Core Competencies
- Accuracy and reliability of financial performance reporting against approved income, expenditure and cash flow budgets and forecasts

Mandatory
- Tertiary level Accounting qualifications and post-graduate qualifications – e.g. CPA/CA
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in an Accounting role
- Experience in working with Government bodies and management of Government funding
- Advanced level of knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
Desirable
- Prior experience or knowledge of sporting administration business
- Experience with a cloud-based budgeting and forecasting
- Prior experience in using Workday Adaptive and Dynamics 365
