ABOUT THE ROLE

The Commercial Operations Coordinator will be responsible for the AFL's brand approval platform BrandHQ, designed to streamline the approval process for all branding and intellectual property (IP) associated with the AFL, all Clubs and external stakeholders. The role will also support the coordination and delivery of the AFL’s commercial signage program across AFL and AFLW, ensuring signage assets align with approved brand guidelines and partner entitlements.

 

This role will work across both AFL and AFLW brands and will engage with many of our industry’s corporate partnerships, broadcasters, and Clubs as well as digital and marketing agencies, with the opportunity to build commercial acumen relevant to the sports industry and how best to protect the AFL’s brand. 

 

With the key to success in building strong relationships with all 18 Clubs, whilst also fostering strong cross departmental knowledge and relationships to support the key functions of the Commercial team and the wider industry.

 

This role sits within the Commercial Operations team, with a close working relationship with the AFL’s Partnerships and Marketing teams.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

 

BrandHQ

  • Responsible for approving AFL Brand Approvals via the BrandHQ portal (Club/Corporate Partner/AFL Advertisements, Competitions, Auctions, TVCs and Content etc)
  • Onboarding all users of the BrandHQ platform across the industry including training and support to all AFL staff, 18 Clubs and relevant AFL Partners on how to correctly access and use BrandHQ and the AFL’s brand
  • Build strong relationships internally at the AFL to ensure each relevant department is across all relevant brand and commercial partner approvals
  • Updating brand guidelines annually as well as uploading and sharing industry wide all updated AFL logos, campaigns, brand guidelines on the platform for industry usage  
  • Design and implement new processes to ensure the platform and each type of approval (Content/ATL TVCs, Photos, Grand Final Promotions etc) aligns to each stage of the approval process, aligns to Commercial Guidelines and meets our legal requirements to protect the AFL and our brand
  • Supplying match footage, photos and imagery to Clubs, partners, industry – mandating commercial and brand guidelines for their usage  
  • Monitoring and managing all Grand Final ticketing promotions across AFL Partners, Club Partners, and Charities in line with the Grand Final Government ticketing scheme in line with the legal team
  • Manage all existing and pending accounts on the platform to ensure only authorised users have access to AFL and Club IP to minimise the risk of misuse or infringement
  • Provide support to the Commercial Operations team as required

 

Signage Program

  • Support the operational delivery of the AFL’s commercial signage program across AFL, AFLW and major events including Community Series, Gather Round, Finals and Grand Final, working closely with signage providers, venues and internal stakeholders
  • Assist in maintaining signage documentation and definition documents, LED and Big Screen specifications, and supporting the first rights process
  • Support AFLW signage delivery with Clubs and AFL Partners, assisting with signage layouts, print coordination and Club communications
  • Assist with signage planning and delivery for major events, including venue readiness, inspections and event-specific documentation
  • Support signage program PO creation, partner and club recovery payment process and meeting signage budgets
  • Provide support to the Commercial team as required
