About the role
This role sits at the centre of two critical portfolios, enabling senior leaders to operate at pace and deliver on the AFL’s Game Plan. You will provide high-impact, forward-thinking support to the Executive General Manager Strategy and Executive General Manager People, ensuring their time, priorities and decisions are aligned to what matters most.

 

Operating in a fast-moving environment, you will coordinate complex schedules, manage sensitive information and support cross-functional work across Strategy, People and the broader organisation. This is a role for a modern Executive Assistant who uses smart tools and sound judgement to improve efficiency, anticipate needs and keep work moving.

 

What you’ll own
This role is about enabling leaders to perform at their best and ensuring the smooth running of two high-demand portfolios.


You’ll add value through:

  • Coordinating complex, fast-changing calendars to optimise executive time and align priorities to strategic outcomes
  • Managing inboxes and communications with clear judgement, ensuring timely responses and effective information flow
  • Orchestrating meetings, engagements and cross-functional interactions with precision and foresight
  • Managing travel, events and logistics with a solutions-focused and commercially aware approach
  • Preparing high-quality presentations, briefing materials and executive communications with accuracy and clarity
  • Coordinating the development and quality assurance of reports, board papers and governance documentation
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity at all times
  • Supporting cross-functional initiatives across Strategy, People and broader organisational teams
  • Tracking key actions, milestones and risks to ensure visibility, alignment and follow-through
  • Building strong relationships across the organisation to facilitate collaboration and influence outcomes
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance executive effectiveness and productivity
  • Using AI and modern productivity tools to streamline workflows and improve ways of working

 

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience providing high-level executive support in a complex, fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across multiple senior stakeholders
  • Advanced organisational and prioritisation skills, with sound judgement on urgency and impact
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of executive-level materials
  • Experience coordinating governance processes, reports and formal documentation
  • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information
  • Strong stakeholder engagement capability, building trust across a wide range of internal and external contacts
  • Confidence using digital tools, including AI and automation, to improve efficiency and outcomes
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving capability, anticipating needs and addressing issues early
  • Ability to support cross-functional work and maintain alignment across multiple teams
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to managing logistics, events and travel
  • Resilience and adaptability, with the ability to stay effective in a dynamic, changing environment
