ABOUT THE ROLE

This role will provide operational and administrative support to the AFL’s Insurance Manager & Senior Legal Counsel in respect of the AFL’s Collective Insurance Program (AFL Collective Insurance Program). The AFL Collective Insurance Program, with the support of the AFL’s insurance broker Marsh, procures various insurance covers for the AFL corporate entities, the Elite AFL/AFLW Clubs and Community football organisations nationally.  This role plays an important role in the on-going success of the procurement and management of insurances across the AFL Industry. 

 

We're looking for someone with a "can do” attitude and the confidence to work autonomously, while also thriving in a supportive team environment—partnering closely with the AFL’s Insurance Manager and Senior Legal Counsel to drive impactful insurance initiatives.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

Key Accountabilities:

The Insurance Coordinator will report to the AFL’s Insurance Manager & Senior Legal Counsel and form part of the AFL’s Insurance and Risk & Safety Teams with responsibility for providing operational, strategic and administrative support across the AFL’s Collective Insurance Program as follows:

  • Supporting, and where appropriate coordinating, the AFL’s submission and reporting in respect of the annual renewal of insurance policies, including preparation of insurance renewal submissions, drafting internal and external reports and presentations and support in administering payments and invoices in respect of the annual renewal
  • Providing day-to-day support to, including responding to insurance enquiries and requests from, stakeholders of the AFL Collective Insurance Program
  • Coordinating and monitoring of claims across all lines of insurance procured through the AFL Collective Insurance Program
  • Development and delivery (in conjunction with the AFL’s insurance broker, Marsh) of presentations to stakeholders/insureds of the AFL Collective Insurance Program
  • Management and administration of the AFL Corporate Asset and Motor Vehicle schedules
  • Assisting the administration of, and providing support to stakeholders of, the Elite Club insurance program
  • Coordinating the development, review and delivery of education and other risk mitigation resources by Marsh or other providers for the AFL Collective Insurance Program
  • Supporting the AFL’s Risk & Safety Team with, and where appropriate leading, related risk management activities
  • Supporting (where appropriate) the AFL’s Risk & Compliance Lead with the management of the AFL Elite Club Compliance Program
  • Reviewing activities (including AFL/ALFW match day and other event activations) across the AFL Collective Program with regards to insurance considerations and to obtain requisite support from AFL Collective Program insurers
  • Facilitating and coordinating AFL Elite Venue inspections
  • General day-to-day support with respect to the operational management of, and strategic initiatives of, the AFL Collective Insurance Program

  • Understanding of the AFL or other relevant sporting environment
  • Experience in any of the areas of insurance broking, insurance claims, insurance underwriting, risk management or advice will be favourably considered
