ABOUT THE ROLE
The Media Rights Lead is responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of the AFL’s media rights arrangements in respect of its AFL and AFLW competitions, including assisting with ensuring compliance of the AFL’s contractual obligations, and those of its media rights partners, as well as supporting broadcaster access to players, Club personnel and venues by the AFL’s media rights partners.
The role assists with monitoring compliance by AFL industry stakeholders with contractual arrangements, applicable agreements, policies, Broadcaster Access Policy, AFL/W Collective Bargaining Agreement and Commercial Operations Guidelines from a broadcast perspective.
The Media Rights Lead will also support the identification of opportunities across media rights and broadcast partners to innovate, evolve and help improve the broadcast of AFL products.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities:
- Assist with advising and educating stakeholders in respect of the AFL’s media rights arrangements, in particular the new broadcast arrangements, including Clubs, venues, and AFL Media
- Work closely to support the AFL Broadcasting Operations team in the delivery of optimal broadcast match day coverage and compliance with the AFL’s media rights arrangements
- Act as a key contact point for broadcast rights queries across the AFL industry, including being the contact point within the AFL industry for information regarding broadcast contractual obligations.
- Assist with the management of the Broadcaster Access Policy to improve coverage outcomes and compliance
- Support relevant AFL internal teams, including Football Operations, Events and Match Day Experience, Corporate Partnerships and Legal on broadcast arrangements, ensuring compliance with the AFL’s broadcast arrangements and related obligations
- Support, through internal and external collaboration, the evolution and innovation of the AFL and AFLW broadcast through a strong understanding of international best practice and localised considerations
- Contribute to key projects within and outside of core role
- Support and contribute to the success of the broader team

Mandatory:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a Club or Australian sports environment, ideally with media rights or other significant contractual administration
- Strong understanding of Australian Football and its various stakeholders
- Demonstrated attention to detail and understanding of contractual rights and obligations
Desired:
- Familiarity with contract administration
