ABOUT THE ROLE
This talented and passionate Producer - Editorial Video will take on a hands-on role producing high-quality and engaging studio-based AFL and AFLW content as part of the AFL Digital Network’s editorial video team.
The incumbent will line produce and be responsible for selected weekly AFL and AFLW show and vodcast content and create bespoke short or long form content with an emphasis on leveraging the AFL archive.
Working closely with the AFL and AFLW editorial team and on-air talent, the position will be responsible for creating engaging AFL content in a style that is fit-for-purpose for digital platforms.
This role will also support content creation for critical tentpole annual moments including the AFL Trade Period, the AFL and AFLW Draft, Gather Round, Origin and AFL and AFLW Grand Finals.
You will also play a role in producing and managing the AFL’s digital highlights content suite.
This role will play an influential role in engaging fans across the AFL Digital Network’s channels, joining and leading a team that is focused on driving audience, commercial growth and interest in the game.
We will be closed for our annual closure period from December 22 2025, returning January 12 2026. Over this closure period, applications will not be responded to during this time.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
The role works closely with the Executive Producer - Editorial Video, Commercial Content Strategist, Senior Producer, the Facilities and Operations Manager and Managing Editors of AFL, AFLW and Social channels to execute editorial and branded content published on the AFL Live App, afl.com.au, womens.AFL and AFL and AFLW social channels.
The Producer will be responsible for ideation, production and creation of a vast range of editorial content to drive audience and commercial outcomes. You will have the ability to create content and oversee the entire process.
You will possess creative flair, end-to-end production experience, new ways of thinking and an all-round passion for developing outstanding creative communications. You will also have a good knowledge of both the AFL and the AFLW competition, the players and a passion for growing the game.
You will enjoy working in a close-knit team, have strong collaboration skills and the ability to juggle a range of stakeholders - including crew, external production agencies, other content creators, music/artist agents and talent.
OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER
The Producer will have experience line producing sport studio programs as well as producing short and long form video content and:
- Digital Video experience with an emphasis on creating ‘studio-style’ programming
- 3+ years line producing studio-based sports content for a digital or TV platform
- A highly organised approach to pre and post-production with demonstrated experience producing multi-purposed content that resonates across an omni-channel network (long-form turned into short-form and vertical)
- A strong creative flair and passion for great content
- Strong understanding of the AFL and AFLW competition and a strong editorial news sense
- An ability to pitch creative ideas internally and externally to drive fandom and/or commercial growth
- An ability to direct crews to deliver desired outcomes and experience working with third-party studio providers and production agencies
- An ability to connect with talent and direct accordingly
- Strong product and best practice knowledge regarding video distribution platform and channels including, but not limited to:
- Digital and Broadcast Platforms (website, app and Linear/OTT)
- Social media platforms and channels such as YouTube, Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram (including Stories and Reels) X and Reddit
- Strong written communication skills
- The ability to self-produce and work autonomously
- A commitment to being an excellent team player, always
- Familiarity with AVID, the Adobe Creative Suite and/or WSC and editing experience is desirable
- Experience creating Podcasts and/or an understanding of the audio content creation process (recording, editing, publishing)
- Flexibility and willingness to work outside of business hours
