The opportunity

As Salesforce Engineer, you will help deliver and evolve the AFL’s flagship CRM platform across the AFL ecosystem, supporting both AFL/Marvel and several clubs using the industry solution. This role plays an important part in building reliable, scalable and high-performing platform services that support great experiences for fans, partners, clubs and communities.

 

Working closely with internal delivery teams, stakeholders and delivery partners, you will contribute across solution design, development, implementation and production support. You will also help strengthen platform stability, governance and continuous improvement across the Salesforce environment.

 

What you'll own

You will contribute to the ongoing performance, stability and evolution of the AFL’s Salesforce platform environment. This role combines hands-on engineering capability with strong collaboration and solution delivery focus.

 

You’ll add value through:

  • Delivering ongoing enhancements and custom Salesforce developments that support business priorities across the AFL ecosystem
  • Designing scalable and efficient technical solutions aligned to current platform capability, data landscape and long-term objectives
  • Developing and maintaining custom applications, Lightning Web Components, Apex classes, triggers and supporting frameworks
  • Supporting solution estimation, delivery planning and phased implementation approaches based on dependencies and available resources
  • Collaborating with technology teams, stakeholders and delivery partners throughout design, build, testing and release activities
  • Building high-quality solutions with strong testing discipline, deployment standards and operational readiness
  • Producing clear and maintainable technical documentation, including solution designs and standard operating procedures
  • Supporting production environments by investigating and resolving technical and data issues, including root cause analysis
  • Contributing to governance, release review and continuous improvement processes across the CRM platform
  • Supporting Salesforce platform stability through system release reviews, managed package upgrades and feature rollouts
  • Maintaining effective working relationships between technical teams and business stakeholders through clear communication and responsive support

 

What you’ll bring

  • At least 4 years’ experience delivering Salesforce solutions in a Salesforce Developer or similar engineering role
  • Strong hands-on experience with Apex development, including classes, triggers and batch processing
  • Proven capability developing Lightning Web Components (LWC)
  • Experience working with Salesforce Data Cloud, including data ingestion, unification, segmentation and activation
  • Knowledge of integration patterns and experience delivering system integrations
  • Hands-on experience working with CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices
  • Experience with metadata extraction, migration and deployment activities
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce development best practice, including coding standards, security and scalable solution design
  • Demonstrated experience balancing declarative and custom development approaches, including knowing when configuration is the right solution
  • Strong capability across Salesforce declarative tools, including flows, data modelling, security and sharing models, and permission management
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams to deliver quality outcomes
