The opportunity

 

Play a key role in delivering strong, sustainable community football competitions across Darling Downs and Wide Bay, ensuring great experiences for clubs, participants and local communities.

 

As Competition Manager – Darling Downs and Wide Bay, you’ll lead the end-to-end delivery of competitions, ensuring they are well administered, compliant and built for long-term growth.

 

You’ll work closely with clubs and stakeholders to strengthen governance, improve the participant experience and support the ongoing development of community football across Regional Queensland.

 

 

What you’ll own

 

You’ll oversee the effective delivery and continuous improvement of community football competitions across your region.


You’ll add value through:

 

  • Planning and delivering competitions in line with rules, policies and national guidelines
  • Managing core competition operations, including fixtures, registrations, transfers, results, finals and match-day processes
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with club presidents, committees and key stakeholders
  • Supporting clubs to develop competition structures that promote balance, sustainability and growth
  • Delivering governance guidance and education to strengthen club capability and long-term viability
  • Managing competition budgets, including oversight of invoicing and payments
  • Coordinating local marketing and promotional activity, including social media, in partnership with communications teams
  • Planning and delivering junior and senior awards events and presentations
  • Supporting the delivery of AFL Nines across Darling Downs and Wide Bay
  • Contributing to broader team priorities and projects that support the success of regional football

 

What you’ll bring

 

  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across clubs and communities
  • Strong administrative capability, with high attention to detail, planning and organisation
  • Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations and policies effectively
  • Sound judgement and problem-solving capability, with the ability to navigate challenges and deliver practical solutions
  • Experience working with volunteers, committees or community sporting organisations
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to change and remain effective across shifting priorities
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and deliver across multiple activities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Football, with community club experience desirable
