The opportunity

 

As Competition Lead – Hunter Central Coast, you’ll play a key role in delivering outstanding football experiences for players, clubs, umpires, officials and volunteers across the region. Your work will help ensure community football competitions are well organised, accessible and sustainable, supporting the continued growth of the game.

 

Based in Morisset, this role is responsible for the operational delivery of junior and senior community football competitions across the Hunter Central Coast region. Working closely with clubs, league boards, umpiring groups and key stakeholders, you’ll coordinate competition operations, support umpiring outcomes and contribute to the ongoing improvement of community football.

 

 

What you’ll own

 

You’ll help create high-quality football environments and positive participant experiences across the region.

 

You’ll add value through:

 

  • Coordinating the delivery of junior and senior community football competitions, including home and away seasons and finals series
  • Managing competition setup, administration and maintenance through PlayHQ and associated systems
  • Preparing and maintaining fixtures, scheduling changes and ensuring timely communication with clubs and stakeholders
  • Supporting competition structures, grading processes and competition reviews to enhance participation and competitive balance
  • Overseeing match administration activities, including results, ladders, compliance requirements and competition records
  • Providing operational support to clubs, volunteers, officials and umpires on game day and throughout the season
  • Administering league policies, by-laws and competition procedures, and supporting their ongoing review and implementation
  • Coordinating competition-related events including finals, representative football, season launches and presentation functions
  • Supporting umpire appointments across junior and senior competitions to ensure effective match coverage
  • Contributing to umpire recruitment, retention and development initiatives in partnership with umpiring groups and stakeholders
  • Building strong relationships with clubs and key stakeholders to support clear communication and positive football experiences
  • Identifying opportunities to improve competition delivery, operational efficiency and participant outcomes

 

What you’ll bring

 

  • Demonstrated experience in community sport, sport administration or a comparable environment
  • Strong operational, administrative and organisational capability with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience coordinating competitions, programs or events in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Sound judgement and attention to detail when managing processes, systems and compliance requirements
  • Experience working collaboratively with clubs, volunteers, officials or community stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and competition management systems
  • Experience using PlayHQ or similar competition management platforms
  • Knowledge of community football competitions and club environments
  • Understanding of AFL Laws of the Game and local competition structures (desirable)
  • Experience supporting umpire appointments, officiating pathways or umpire development programs (desirable)
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Sport Management, Recreation or a related discipline (desirable)
  • Current driver's licence
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required
