The opportunity
 
The health and safety of athletes at every level of the game is of paramount importance to the AFL.
 
As ARC Medical Spotter Program Coordinator, you will coordinate the operational delivery, quality assurance and continuous improvement of the AFL Medical Spotter Program across the AFL and AFLW competitions.
 
Based at AFL House in Docklands, you will be the central coordination point for Medical Spotting operations, supporting a capable and prepared workforce and effective communication between Medical Spotters, club medical staff and AFL stakeholders.
 
This role is closely connected to match-day delivery and requires regular evening and weekend availability throughout the AFL and AFLW seasons.
 
What you’ll own
 
You will coordinate the people, systems and processes that enable the Medical Spotter Program to operate consistently and effectively.
 
You’ll add value through:
  • Managing Medical Spotter workforce planning, rostering, availability, leave and shift allocation across AFL and AFLW competitions
  • Coordinating recruitment, onboarding, credentialling and system access for Medical Spotters
  • Supporting consistent alignment with current AFL and AFLW concussion protocols and Medical Spotting processes
  • Ensuring appropriate match-day coverage and supporting workforce
  • Assisting in coordinating induction and ongoing education
  • Reviewing incidents, concussion metrics and clinical documentation to identify trends, learning opportunities and areas for improvement
  • Maintaining workforce records, training compliance, governance documentation and concussion-related databases
  • Acting as the primary operational contact for Medical Spotters and facilitating communication with club doctors, AFL medical leaders and Health and Concussion Operations teams
  • Managing user onboarding, team lists, fixture information and clinical documentation within the AFL SCORE App
  • Liaising with club medical staff to resolve outstanding documentation and support accurate, complete data
  • Working with the SCORE App developer to support system improvements
  • Contributing to program evaluation, annual reporting and the ongoing refinement of operational procedures

 

What you’ll bring
 
  • A tertiary qualification in exercise or health sciences, or an equivalent qualification, or current AHPRA registration in a relevant health profession
  • Experience coordinating a clinical, healthcare or operational workforce, including roster management and workforce planning
  • Experience establishing and maintaining systems, processes and policies that support effective healthcare or research delivery
  • Strong organisational capability and the judgement to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across clinical and operational stakeholder groups
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement
  • Availability to work weekends and weekday evenings throughout the AFL and AFLW seasons
  • Working knowledge of sports-related concussion would be valuable
  • Experience in elite professional sport or a strong understanding of Australian football would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of research operations, governance or technology service delivery would be advantageous
  • Experience coordinating education, feedback, training or professional development for clinical staff would be beneficial
