ABOUT THE ROLE

The Coach Developer - VIC is a casual role that will be responsible for increasing the quality of community football coaching environments and the capacity of community coaches. The Coach Developer will educate and develop coaches through AFL Victoria by delivering content to community coaches to create behavioural changes consistent with the National Coaching strategy.

 

AFL VIC Coach Developers will deliver coach learning methods (coach education, facilitation, assessing, mentoring and reflection) with club coaches within their coaching context at club level.

 

Trained coach developers will work with clubs and club coaches to identify individual performance and learning needs, while targeting whole-club coaching development within participating clubs. Coaching behavioural changes and creating a ‘player centred’ environment are key focuses of Coach Developers.

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work within the AFL VIC Coach Developer Program across Victoria.
  • Improve regional community club coaching programs, with a focus on enhancing the quality of the club coaching environment.
  • Improve knowledge of and access to coach learning and education resources in community clubs for greater education of coaches.
  • Facilitate coaching seminars and support the AFL VIC Coach Education & Developer Lead.
  • Assist external related forums relevant to the coaching portfolio, where required.
  • Align with the AFL VIC Coach Education & Developer Lead and League/Region Manager to deliver AFL VIC endorsed programs.
  • Support and contribute to the success of the broader team by communicating with fellow Coach Developers.

 

OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER

Core Competencies:

  • Level 2 / Silver Coach AFL Accreditation
  • Capacity to work outside normal business hours will be required, along with availability to attend monthly Coach Developer meeting on weeknights.
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • High level administration skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and document presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint to deliver workshop content.
  • Ability to deliver high quality, exciting and engaging ways to help support the AFL VIC Coach Developer Program across Victoria.
  • Highly developed communication and leadership skills, able to communicate with Clubs, League/Region Managers and AFL VIC Coach Developer Lead.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships – internally and externally.
  • Ability to work effectively unsupervised whilst a member of a team.
  • Experience working in community sport as a coach or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with community clubs and a variety of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and understanding of community Football in Victoria.
