ABOUT THE ROLE

This role will own and drive the AFL Cultural Diversity Strategy.  The scope of the role extends to fans, participation, media and broadcast, workforce, talent and AFL Club community engagement and diversity of playing lists in AFL/AFLW.  The outcomes will form a key input into achieving the AFL’s goals of 10m fans and 1m registered participants.

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide strategic direction, advocacy, and advice to functions across the business as they relate to the Cultural Diversity Strategy  
  • Ensure a consolidated and integrated approach to the various workstreams within the strategy
  • Develop and implement a CALD workforce strategy in line with functional priorities – including a detailed recruitment, induction and on boarding plan
  • Support Game Development in ensuring the CALD Action Plans have appropriate community engagement and endorsement
  • Partner with Corporate Affairs and Government relations on representation at relevant working groups and forums, additionally seeking out funding opportunities for program development and delivery
  • Ensure pathways for players, coaches, umpires and volunteers in Game Development and Talent are appropriately designed, resourced and reviewed
  • Working with AFL media to implement cultural diversity campaigns, storytelling and marketing strategies
  • Engage broadcasters and media to drive exposure and visibility of CALD promotions and develop culturally diverse talent in broadcast
  • Work with AFL clubs to promote and activate Cultural Heritage series to maximise reach and impact
