The opportunity
As Paralegal, you'll play an important role in supporting the AFL Legal team to deliver high-quality legal and commercial support across the organisation. Your work will help enable major events, protect the AFL brand and ensure legal and contractual obligations are managed effectively across the business.
Working closely with teams including Events, Media, Broadcast and Ticketing, you'll coordinate a broad range of legal and administrative activities while supporting the delivery of some of the AFL's biggest moments, including the Toyota AFL Grand Final and Finals Series.
What you'll own
This is a varied role where you'll contribute to the smooth operation of the AFL Legal team while supporting key business initiatives and major events.
You'll add value through:
- Preparing first drafts of standard AFL agreements, including consultancy, ambassador, confidentiality and event booking agreements.
- Drafting competition and trade promotion terms and conditions.
- Managing the AFL's contract management system to support efficient contract administration.
- Coordinating legal requirements relating to AFL brand usage through BrandHQ, including reviewing marketing collateral and promotional terms and conditions.
- Supporting the administration of the Toyota AFL Grand Final ticket scheme, including preparing documentation, advising stakeholders and coordinating required reporting.
- Coordinating music copyright clearances for AFL events and marketing campaigns, including the Toyota AFL Grand Final.
- Supporting compliance with wagering and media partner contractual obligations.
- Assisting the Legal team with legal administration and project work across key AFL events, including Finals, Gather Round and other marquee initiatives.
- Building effective relationships across the AFL to provide responsive legal support to internal stakeholders and AFL Clubs.
What you'll bring
- 2–5 years' experience in a paralegal, sports administration or marketing role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience preparing legal documentation and contracts.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational and planning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capability.
- Experience coordinating multiple administrative processes with accuracy and efficiency.
- Sound judgement and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to work across diverse teams.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of legal risk in a business environment.
- Proficiency using contract management or similar business systems is desirable.
- A valid employee Working with Children/Vulnerable People Check and satisfactory criminal history record check prior to commencement.
