The opportunity
The People Program & Engagement Coordinator plays a critical role in bringing the AFL’s people development, talent and engagement initiatives to life.
As part of the AFL People Team, you will coordinate the delivery of learning, leadership, talent, wellbeing and engagement programs and events across the AFL and broader industry.
Working closely with internal teams, clubs, venues, suppliers and external program partners, you will help create seamless, engaging and meaningful experiences for participants while supporting delivery of the AFL People Plan.
What you’ll own
You will be the engine room behind a broad portfolio of people programs and events, balancing planning, logistics, communication and stakeholder coordination across multiple initiatives.
You’ll add value through:
- Coordinating the end-to-end delivery of AFL and industry talent, development, wellbeing and engagement programs.
- Supporting organisation-wide capability initiatives, including leadership development, AI and other strategic workforce programs.
- Managing program and event logistics, including scheduling, venue bookings, room set-up, catering, resources, registrations and participant communications.
- Preparing program materials, event briefs, workbooks, presentations, participant resources, evaluations and reporting.
- Maintaining accurate program records, attendance data, databases and related administration.
- Coordinating online learning activities, webinars, virtual development experiences, workshops, forums and conferences.
- Liaising with venues, suppliers, facilitators and external program partners to support seamless delivery.
- Managing invoices, purchase orders and program-related budget administration.
- Supporting AFL induction and onboarding programs, including speaker coordination, briefing notes, resources, schedules and participant communications.
- Supporting People Team engagement initiatives, campaigns, communications, webinars, recognition and reward programs.
- Creating, publishing and maintaining People Team content across internal and employee communication channels, including email, intranet, employee social network and LinkedIn.
- Supporting coordination of AFL Grad Program recruitment activities, assessment centres, onboarding, immersion and development activities.
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated experience coordinating programs, projects, events or learning experiences in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong planning, organisation and coordination capability, with the ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time.
- Sound project and event management skills, with a focus on seamless delivery from planning through to execution.
- Strong stakeholder management capability, including confidence working with internal teams, clubs, participants, suppliers, venues and external partners.
- High attention to detail, with the judgement to anticipate issues, solve problems early and deliver quality outcomes.
- A participant-focused approach to creating positive, engaging and impactful learning and event experiences.
- Strong written communication skills, with experience creating and coordinating content for different audiences and channels.
- Confidence supporting workshops, events and learning experiences both behind the scenes and in the room.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to contribute across a broad range of People Team initiatives.
- Strong technology and digital literacy, including confidence using Microsoft 365, email marketing platforms, online event tools and learning platforms.
- Curiosity and aptitude for AI-enabled ways of working, with a focus on improving efficiency, effectiveness and participant experience.
