ABOUT THE ROLE

The Product Manager – AFL Clubs is a strategic role tasked with influencing, evolving, and enhancing the digital fan and member experience for the AFL’s 18 clubs. Reporting to the Group Product Manager, you will act as the primary liaison between AFL Digital and club stakeholders, ensuring the delivery of innovative and fan centric digital products. You will play a key role in aligning club digital products with broader AFL digital initiatives, ensuring seamless integration with key systems such as SSO, customer data, rewards, and subscriptions.

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

 

  • Strategic Liaison, Communication & Advocacy:
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Clubs as the primary point of contact between AFL Digital and club stakeholders
    • Translate the AFL’s strategic vision into actionable product initiatives tailored for clubs’ digital offerings
    • Advocate for the digital needs of AFL Clubs and their fans across all platforms
    • Advise on broader digital strategy matters, such as third-party integrations, Clubs digital operations support, and digital commercialisation
  • Product Strategy & Roadmap:
    • Drive the development, enhancement, and evolution of the club digital experiences, ensuring that product strategies align with the AFL’s overarching vision as well as with club-specific needs
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders - including AFL Product Managers, Project Manager, Business Analyst and Digital Operations, CX/UX, Product Analytics and Commercial teams - to optimise the digital fan experience based on insights, research and operational efficiency
    • Develop a formalised, collaborative product idea flow and prioritisation process across the club network
    • Collaborate closely with external vendors to manage the product backlog and coordinate the delivery of new initiatives and features

 

OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER

  • Proven, relevant Digital Product Management experience, preferably with a background in consumer facing products and/or customer experience (CX)
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex stakeholder relationships and navigating diverse organisational structures and needs
  • Experience in digital product monetisation, multiplatform prioritisation, and data driven decision-making
  • Familiarity with agile, scrum, or similar methodologies, along with experience in managing cross functional projects
  • Strong experience in using product analytics for decision-making
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Deeply understands customer experience from a product management perspective, always thinking about the user to create seamless, engaging, and value-driven digital experiences
  • A strategic thinker and problem solver with the ability to drive consensus among varied stakeholders
  • Excited about representing the needs of passionate club fans, members and stakeholders to continuously drive enhanced digital fan engagement
  • Comfortable with data analysis and using insights to drive product decisions
