The opportunity

The AFL Digital Network is seeking a casual Social Media Producer to join the team and support the creation and publishing of content across the AFL’s Indigenous social media channels.

 

This role focuses on sharing stories that connect with First Nations audiences, celebrate culture, and help bring new fans into the game.

 

You will work a mix of weekday and weekend shifts to produce engaging, platform-first content across Instagram, Facebook and X, working as part of the broader AFL Social team.

 

You will be supported by the AFL’s First Nations Engagement and Inclusion team to ensure stories are shared with care.

 

If you are creative, curious and passionate about storytelling - particularly in a First Nations context - and you have made content for social media channels before then this could be the role for you.

 

What you’ll own

  • Create, film and publish engaging social media content across AFL Indigenous social media channels
  • Identify and shape culturally relevant and meaningful stories that resonate with First Nations audiences
  • Contribute to key campaigns and cultural moments (e.g. Sir Doug Nicholls Round, AFLW Indigenous Round, NAIDOC Week)
  • Monitor and engage with online audiences to build a respectful and inclusive community
  • Bring fresh ideas informed by social trends, cultural moments and emerging creators
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align content with AFL and AFLW campaigns and priorities

 

What you’ll bring

  • Lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
  • Knowledge and experience working on First Nations content and stories is necessary, with an understanding of AFL preferred
  • Experience filming and editing short-form video content
  • Experience publishing content across social media platforms
  • Creative thinking and a strong eye for engaging content
  • Ability to write clear, engaging and audience-appropriate copy
  • Strong collaboration skills and willingness to learn
  • Experience creating content using tools such as CapCut, Adobe Photoshop or Premiere Pro
  • Understanding of platform-specific content (e.g. Instagram Reels, TikTok-style video)
