ABOUT THE ROLE
Umpiring Sports Trainers provide an important support service to the AFL, AFLW and State League & Talent Pathways umpires at training and on match days. This role provides important support to the AFL and SLTP High Performance and Medical teams, and in the safe, smooth running of umpire training.
Applicants must be able to commit to both matches and umpire training requirements of the role.
For AFL sports trainers, we are looking for the below roles:
• QLD: 2 positions (AFL/AFLW)
• NSW: 3 positions (AFL/AFLW)
• VIC: 6 positions (SLTP) and 3 positions (AFL/AFLW)
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Matches
Umpire Trainers support umpires at AFL/AFLW/VFL competition matches between February and November at various AFL/AFLW/VFL grounds on Thursday through to Sundays (occasional Friday daytime or weekend evenings required).
Umpire Training
Umpire Trainers support umpires at umpire training on a Tuesday and/or Thursday night from February to November. A minimum commitment of 1 training night per week is required.
Key Accountabilities:
- Main duties include taping, acute injury management, sports massage, first aid administration, hydration, and support for the safe, smooth running of umpire training
OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER
Core Competencies:
- Basic First Aid certificate is essential.
- Level 1 Sports Trainer certificate or working towards one is highly regarded
- The role would suit but not limited to a reliable physiotherapy, osteopathy, myotherapy, paramedicine, nursing or exercise science student or someone with Sports Trainers experience at a club level.
- Ability to work week nights and weekends
