ABOUT THE ROLE
The Umpire Education and Support Lead will be responsible for executing existing plans that ultimately
support the development of community umpires and umpire associations.
The role will work closely with the Umpire Recruitment and Retention Lead and key National and State
umpiring stakeholders to assist in the delivery of key umpire specific tasks as set out within the AFL Victoria Action Plan.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities:
- Establish and maintain quality stakeholder relationships to ensure that Regions, Metropolitan
- Leagues and Umpire Associations are well placed to meet / exceed umpire education targets,
- respective Umpire Plans and improved training and match day experience for all
- Prompt response to coaching / development queries from Umpire Associations, Leagues and
- Regions with respect to the Laws of Australian Football, OfficialsHQ, Hudl, SportsGauge and more
- Provide educational resources and support to the 27 x Victorian Umpire Associations (in collaboration with the 10 Metropolitan Leagues and 10 Victorian Regions), through conferences,
- workshops, meeting attendance and (where required) in-person visitations
- Regular reporting on key success metrics for Victorian umpiring
- Assist with the logistics of the V/Line Cup umpire talent program
- Assist with the management of the Umpire Coach Development Program
- Other tasks as directed by AFL Victoria Leadership

Desirable:
- Experience working with volunteers
- Knowledge of community football rules, regulations and policies
- An understanding of Victorian community football structure and environment
