The opportunity
 
Passionate about footy, digital storytelling and creating content that captures the moments fans care about most? Join the AFL in this Casual role where you'll bring your video editing expertise, editorial judgement and creative flair to a growing vertical content team helping shape how fans experience the game.
 
As part of the AFL’s Editorial team, you will create, edit and publish vertical content that captures key match moments, promotes AFL.com.au content and supports an exciting digital content strategy.
 
You will work in a fast-paced live sport environment, collaborating with editorial and social teams to deliver timely, high-quality content for fans, partners and the broader game.
 
 
What you’ll own
 
You will help deliver engaging vertical content that connects fans to the game as it happens.
 
You’ll add value through:
 
  • Creating and editing engaging vertical video and graphics in 9:16 format
  • Identifying key moments during AFL and AFLW matches and publishing highlights in a timely way
  • Supporting live match coverage, including weekend work as required
  • Finding creative ways to promote AFL.com.au articles, shows, podcasts and editorial content in vertical format
  • Executing commercial vertical content plans to support partner expectations
  • Working closely with the AFL and AFLW Editorial and Social teams on match days and during the week
  • Adapting to specialised vertical publishing software and digital content workflows
  • Bringing strong editorial judgement, accuracy and attention to detail to content produced under tight deadlines

 

What you’ll bring
 
  • Demonstrated video editing capability across different formats, including vertical video
  • Experience using Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Understanding of digital media, publishing trends and audience engagement
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to write in a variety of styles
  • Sound editorial judgement and the ability to identify compelling and newsworthy moments
  • Attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure in a live sport environment
  • Creative storytelling skills and a passion for producing engaging content
  • Photoshop capability is desirable but not essential
  • A strong understanding of AFL and/or AFLW is highly desirable
