ABOUT THE ROLE

The Fan Hub within AFL NSW/ACT exists to grow fandom and participation in Greater Sydney and beyond. We do this through compelling storytelling, innovative content creation, and activations that connect fans and participants to the game. We’re a cross-functional team spanning content, marketing, fan experience, and community engagement, all aligned to the mission of having everyone love and connect with our game.

We’re looking for a Video Producer who can take a brief and run with it. From big-picture creative to sharp, social-first edits, all with a strong storytelling instinct and a clear sense of purpose.

This role plays a critical part in producing content that drives fandom and participation in non-traditional footy markets, particularly in Greater Sydney. From grassroots clubs and emerging communities to the energy of AFL match days, you’ll lead the creation of content that reflects the diversity, momentum, and emotion of our game. You’ll work end-to-end: planning and directing shoots, capturing footage, editing stories, and optimising content for multiple platforms.

It’s a role for someone highly creative, self-sufficient, and who thrives on bringing bold ideas to life.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the end-to-end video content lifecycle, including pre-production planning, on-location directing, camera operation, editing, and post-production.
  • Collaborate with Fan Hub and key stakeholders to plan and storyboard shoots with clear audience outcomes (e.g. participation sign-ups, game attendance, social engagement).
  • Manage post-production tasks including captioning, graphics, sound, grading, versioning and platform optimisation.
  • Contribute creative input to campaigns and content strategies aimed at growing participation and building club connection.
  • Produce and edit a wide range of content, from campaign-led narratives to short-form, snackable social videos and in-the-moment content captures.
  • Tailor content for multiple digital channels including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook. With an emphasis on mobile-first design and platform-specific storytelling.
  • Direct on-camera talent including players, fans, and community figures.
  • Manage logistics when required, and confidently operate as a one-person team.
  • Work within our content calendar to deliver priority projects, including planned shoots and flexible, reactive content opportunities (e.g. local events, club moments).
  • Own the creative execution of stories that inspire fandom and participation in diverse communities across Western Sydney and other emerging footy markets.
  • Provide technical expertise and production advice to teammates.
  • Report on content performance to inform learnings and continuous improvement.
  • Capture high-quality photography for use across club marketing kits, social media, and other digital and print collateral.
  • Shoot and supply stills that support marketing needs including EDMs, posters, match-day assets, and promotional campaigns.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Proven ability in video production, including shooting, lighting, audio, directing, and post-production.
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite:
  • Premiere Pro (advanced)
  • After Effects, Photoshop, Audition (intermediate to advanced)
  • Experience creating video content for a wide range of digital and social platforms – ideally with examples of community-focused or fan-first content.
  • Excellent skills in storyboarding, shot composition, and visual storytelling.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects with competing timelines and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Comfort in working independently and owning end-to-end content production.
  • Confident communicator who can engage with talent and stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of content trends across TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other digital platforms.
  • Passion for creating content that celebrates local communities and encourages people to engage with footy.
  • AFL knowledge is a bonus but not essential; curiosity and enthusiasm are more important.
  • Experience with Lumix camera and Rode mics etc.

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES

  • Experience working in fast-paced sports, youth, or community-based environments.
  • Culturally aware and able to work with diverse communities.
  • A growth mindset, open to feedback and always looking to elevate your craft.
  • Passion for storytelling that connects sport, identity, and community.
