The opportunity
For many children, their first experience of our game comes through AFL Auskick, Superkick, school football and community participation programs. As Participation Coordinator – Sunshine Coast, you will play an important role in growing participation and creating positive experiences that inspire more young people to get involved in football.
Based in Maroochydore, this role is responsible for delivering high-quality participation programs across schools, clubs and community settings, supporting participant growth and helping create strong pathways into local football clubs. Through exceptional program delivery and stakeholder engagement, you will help strengthen football participation across the Sunshine Coast region.
What you’ll own
You will help create safe, engaging and memorable football experiences that encourage lifelong participation in our game.
You’ll add value through:
- Delivering AFL participation programs across schools, before and after school settings, and community clubs
- Driving participation growth through targeted recruitment initiatives across AFL Auskick, Superkick and other football programs
- Building strong relationships with schools to increase the number and reach of participation programs across the region
- Planning and delivering promotional activities, including school assemblies, clinics and community engagement initiatives that support participation targets
- Ensuring programs are delivered consistently, safely and in line with AFL program standards and curriculum
- Implementing strategies that support participant transition and retention from school and introductory programs into local junior football clubs
- Delivering high-quality school football competitions and football development opportunities
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with teachers, schools, clubs and other key stakeholders
- Coordinating AFL player appearances and fan engagement opportunities where applicable
- Supporting junior clubs and Auskick and Superkick centres with participant recruitment, volunteer engagement, coaching support and program promotion
- Contributing to key projects that support football growth and participation outcomes across the region
- Working collaboratively with the broader team to achieve shared goals and deliver great experiences for participants and communities
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated experience working with children and young people
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
- Well-developed presentation and facilitation skills in group and community settings
- Experience delivering engaging programs, activities or sporting initiatives
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proven customer service and relationship management capability
- Confidence working independently and using initiative to achieve outcomes
- Ability to build connections across schools, clubs and community organisations
- Demonstrated ability to engage and support diverse communities
- A practical, energetic and hands-on approach to program delivery
- Sound judgement and commitment to creating safe, inclusive and positive environments for participants
- Flexibility to work outside standard business hours when required, including evenings and weekends
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel across the region as required
- Valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and ability to satisfy a criminal history record check
