The opportunity
The Schools Participation Coordinator plays an important role in growing Australian Rules football and creating positive experiences for children and young people across Greater Sydney.
Please note that this role is a Maximum Term position for 12 months.
Based in Sydney, you will deliver engaging AFL programmes in schools and community settings, support local clubs and participation centres, and help more people connect with the game.
Through high-quality programme delivery, promotion and stakeholder engagement, you will contribute to participation growth across Community Football, NAB AFL Auskick, NAB Superkick, School Competitions and AFL NINES.
What you’ll own
You will coordinate and deliver safe, inclusive and enjoyable football experiences while supporting schools, clubs and community partners to grow participation across Greater Sydney.
You’ll add value through:
- Delivering AFL programmes in schools and after-school settings, including curriculum-linked activities, School Competitions, Auskick, Superkick, AFL NINES and all-abilities programmes
- Supporting junior clubs and Auskick and Superkick centres with participant recruitment, volunteers, coaching, protocols, promotion and venue hire
- Driving programme bookings and contributing to participation growth across Greater Sydney
- Delivering programmes in line with the relevant curriculum and creating safe, friendly and enjoyable experiences for every participant
- Conducting school assemblies and other promotional activities that encourage children and young people to get involved
- Building productive relationships with teachers, schools and other programme stakeholders
- Coordinating AFL player visits and fan engagement activities
- Completing programme administration accurately and efficiently
- Contributing to shared priorities and the success of the broader team
What you’ll bring
- Experience working with children and young people
- Well-developed written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- The ability to engage confidently and appropriately with schools, teachers, volunteers and community stakeholders
- Strong organisational and administrative capability, supported by close attention to detail
- The initiative and judgement to work effectively with limited supervision
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment
- A process-focused approach that supports consistent and reliable programme delivery
- The ability to communicate clearly and work effectively under pressure
- A commitment to creating safe, inclusive and positive experiences for children and young people
- A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to broader team outcomes
