As Competition Manager – NWFL, you will lead the administration, operation and ongoing delivery of the North West Football League senior competitions.
 
Based in Ulverstone and reporting to the Regional Manager – North West, you will work closely with clubs, volunteers, league officials, umpires, AFL Tasmania staff and community stakeholders to deliver a well-run, welcoming and sustainable competition.

What you’ll own
 
You will play a key role in delivering the NWFL competition professionally, efficiently and in line with AFL and AFL Tasmania standards.
 
You’ll add value through:
 
  • Leading the management and delivery of NWFL senior competitions, including fixtures, registrations, player transfers, results, match-day requirements, finals and competition compliance.
  • Planning, coordinating and administering competitions in line with league rules, regulations and agreed standards.
  • Coordinating tribunal operations, communications and associated administration.
  • Managing competition resources, including footballs, equipment, apparel and match-day materials.
  • Building strong working relationships with clubs, volunteers, league officials, umpires, local ground authorities and community partners.
  • Supporting clubs with governance, administration and operational best practice.
  • Providing education, resources and practical support that helps clubs strengthen capability and long-term sustainability.
  • Supporting the implementation of key AFL and AFL Tasmania policies and frameworks, including the National Community Football Policy Handbook, Child Safeguarding standards, the Player Points System, PlayHQ and the AFL Tasmania Club Sustainability Model.
  • Working with AFL Tasmania’s Participation team to help attract and retain players, coaches, umpires and volunteers.
  • Assisting with NWFL promotion, communications and sponsorship activation.
  • Managing competitions within approved budgets and supporting league financial records, reporting, club invoicing and payments.
  • Providing administrative and operational support to other North West affiliated leagues and clubs where required.

 

 

What you’ll bring
 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management capability, with the ability to build trusted relationships across clubs, volunteers, administrators and community partners.
  • Excellent organisation, planning and attention to detail.
  • The ability to coordinate activity across multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Sound judgement, initiative and a solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
  • Confidence using technology and digital systems.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, contribute ideas and take ownership of agreed outcomes.
  • Experience in competition management, sports administration or community sport governance.
  • Understanding of Australian Rules Football competitions, regulations and operational practices, or the ability to quickly learn and apply competition requirements.
  • Experience using PlayHQ or a similar competition management system.
  • Experience working with sporting clubs, volunteers or community organisations.
  • A commitment to safe, inclusive and well-governed community sport environments.
